KEEP KASI CLEAN
A Guardian Angel Wildlife and Marine Trust Initiative

TM

The first #KEEPKASICLEAN event brought together learners, the military, conservationists, government, and the Alexandra community for a powerful day of unity and action. Driven by Mandela’s legacy, it inspired collective responsibility and environmental awareness.

Through interactive exhibitions and hands-on activities, youth became eco-warriors for a day—learning about conservation, career opportunities, and the importance of a clean, green future.

The campaign’s goal: to educate and inspire young South Africans to protect their natural heritage, build cleaner communities, and lead more mindful, productive lives. Because keeping Kasi Clean is more than a slogan—it’s a movement toward lasting change.

FARM VISITS
August 2025

Once thriving game farms, now run-down and forgotten…

On 2 Aug 2025, Raymond Kramer explored these dilapidated yet promising lands with GAWMT

We see opportunity — to re-wild, restore, and transform them into spaces for youth & community training, employment, and empowerment.

Innovative ideas are already in motion to bring them back to life and turn them into true conservation success stories.

MANDELA DAY - SCHOOL VISIT

Guardian Angel Wildlife & Marine Trust (GAWMT) participated in the Alexandra Minerva Meeting alongside school principals, heads of departments, teachers, and pupil leaders to advance a shared commitment to environmental education and youth development. GAWMT delivered a brief on its conservation education programmes, anti-poaching awareness, and community safety partnerships, highlighting how schools can integrate practical activities—river clean-ups, waste-wise campaigns, and biodiversity monitoring—into the curriculum.

The team introduced the Guardian Scouts initiative, focused on character building, leadership, and responsible citizenship, and invited participating schools to nominate learner ambassadors for 2025 intake. Dialogue sessions identified immediate opportunities for educator training, co-developed lesson resources, and joint events aligned to the school calendar.

In closing, GAWMT reaffirmed its collaborative approach with educators and local stakeholders, including cooperation with relevant law-enforcement and conservation authorities where appropriate, to create safer communities for both people and wildlife. Next steps include a planning workshop with Minerva cluster representatives and pilot projects at selected schools in the upcoming term.
